ERASMUS+ MOBILITY OF INCOMING STAFF

The mobility of incoming staff can be realized in various ways. If you are interested in networking, exchanging experiences, obtaining information, and enhancing your skills within the field of higher education, as well as participating in informal gatherings and the opportunity to make new contacts with other incoming staff form other partner HEIs, the ideal period for your mobility is during the International Staff Week or BIP program mobility. However, if you seek a more leisurely experience during your mobility, with more focused time on your interests, opting for independent mobilities could be a more suitable choice.

STAFF MOBILITY FOR TEACHING

This activity allows HEI teaching staff or staff from enterprises to visit and teach at a partner HEI abroad. Staff mobility for teaching can be in any subject area/academic discipline that are in line with VEVU study programs.

Duration of the activity: From a minimum of 2 days for program countries and 5 days for third partner countries to a maximum of 2 months, excluding travel time.

A teaching activity has to comprise a minimum of 8 hours of teaching per week (or any shorter period of stay but not less than 5 days). If the mobility lasts longer than one week, the minimum number of teaching hours for an incomplete week should be proportional to the duration of that week.

Eligible period for teaching mobility at VEVU: during winter and summer semesters. Take into account the Academic Calendar of VEVU.

STAFF MOBILITY FOR TRAINING

This activity supports the professional development of HEI teaching and non-teaching staff through training events abroad (excluding conferences) and job shadowing/observation periods/training at a partner HEI or another relevant organization abroad.

Training programming could be built around the transfer of knowledge and good practice, learning from shared experience, acquiring new practical skills, and discovering new ideas for teaching and learning methods.

Mobility exchange is NOT possible during the summer and winter breaks. Please check the list of Croatian national bank holidays.

Staff participating in a higher education mobility project must be chosen by their sending HEI through a fair and transparent selection process according to the Erasmus+ program rules. For application details, please contact the International Office or Erasmus coordinator at your home university. They will provide information on where and how to apply for participation and financial support.

Before applying to your home HEI for participation, staff members must have agreed on a mobility program and confirmed their arrival period by the VEVU home department’s ECTS coordinator. To obtain approval, the interested incoming participant should use the STA/STT Mobility Plan, aligning with the proposed mobility schedule of arrival.

A combination of these two mobilities for teaching staff is also an option. In this scenario, the minimum teaching hours required are 4. We recommend the STA/STT mobility combination to the teaching staff participants that we organize in spring each year as VEVU Erasmus+ International staff week.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR MOBILE STAFF MEMBERS

Staff can be selected for financial support by sending HEIs in the frame of Erasmus+ KA1 mobility projects. More info is available from your home HEI coordinator.

PAYMENTS

Each selected staff member will sign an individual grant agreement regulating the payment of the financial support towards the grant holder before arrival at the sending HEI for KA131 mobilities and upon arrival at the receiving HEI for KA171 mobilities. Mobility staff member KA171 receives the financial support in full (100%) – paid to the bank account at a Croatian bank, opened upon arrival in Croatia (requirement of the EU Commission – transfers outside the European Union are not allowed).

The submission of the online EU survey after the mobility is considered obligatory for all mobile participating staff.

HEALTH INSURANCE

During your period of stay in Croatia as an international staff member, you must have health insurance.

Non-EU countries with health care agreements with Croatia: If there is a signed bilateral health care agreement between your home country and Croatia, ask for the bilingual form (tiskanica) to be filled in and stamped by your health insurance company. The form should then be presented at the Croatian Health Insurance Company (Hrvatski zavod za zdravstveno osiguranje, http://www.hzzo.hr/en/), which will issue a health insurance document valid in Croatia (bolesnički list). Croatia has entered into agreements on social security with the following non-EU countries participating in CEEPUS: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.

The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC): International staff who have the European Health Insurance Card may use health care services upon presentation of the card and submission of the printout copy of the card, if other instructions are not given according to the Croatian legislation in force.

Countries without health care agreements with Croatia and without the European Health Insurance Card: Teachers from countries that do not have bilateral health care agreements with Croatia or do not use the European Health Insurance Card are obliged to organize and cover the costs of health care services themselves. Any health insurance expenses from these countries are not covered by the grant.

Insurance coverage is mandatory. Basic coverage might be provided by the national health insurance of the participant. However, the coverage may not be sufficient, especially in the case of repatriation and specific medical intervention. In that case, complementary private insurance might be more useful. It is the responsibility of the participant (staff) to ensure mandatory health insurance at their own expense.
