On June 6, 2024, the first “Meet Up FUTURE GEN” was held in the congress hall of the University of Applied Sciences “Lavoslav Ružička” in Vukovar, organized by Glas Slavonije and the University VEVU. The main theme of the panel was “Shaping Professionals: Professional Studies – Key to Development.” The panel featured Anto Blažanović (Director of the National Memorial Hospital “Juraj Njavro” Vukovar), Ivan Jukić (Member of the Management Board of Pevex d.d.), Jasna Kolar, senior lecturer (Head of the Croatian Employment Service Vukovar Regional Office), and Ivan Belaj, senior lecturer (Vice Dean for Teaching and Students at the University of Applied Sciences “Lavoslav Ružička” in Vukovar). The panel was moderated by Assist. dr. sc. Sanja Gongeta, prof. of profess. studies, Vice Dean for Professional and Scientific Research Work and International Cooperation.
The discussion focused on the importance of investing in higher education and professional studies for the future of youth and the economic development of the region. It was highlighted that the newly equipped building of the University VEVU and innovations in study programs contribute to better preparing students for the labor market. Special emphasis was placed on the University’s collaboration with the economy, the challenges in finding quality personnel, and the importance of continuous learning and adapting to new technologies. It was concluded that the introduction of new study programs would be of great significance for Vukovar and the region and would help address the issue of skill shortages. The first Meet Up FUTURE GEN concluded with positive outcomes and plans for further development and cooperation, aiming to ensure a better and safer future for young people and the entire community.
