Organized by the “Lavoslav Ružička” College in Vukovar and the Student Entrepreneurship Incubator, a Round Table on “Demography – the situation, challenges and solutions” was held on March 16, 2022. The desire of the organizers and the goal of the Round Table was to show young people and students why to stay in Vukovar, Vukovar-Srijem County and the Republic of Croatia, with the help of demographic experts through their presentations. The round table brought together relevant participants from three counties (Vukovar-Srijem, Osijek-Baranja, Brod-Posavina) because statistics show that they are the most demographically damaged. Participants of the Round Table, Vukovar-Srijem County Prefect Damir Dekanić, B.Sc. ing., dr. sc. Dražen Živić from the Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences, Ph.D. Višnja Bartolović, Ph.D. v. š. from the University of Slavonski Brod, M.Sc. sc. Dorotea Telarović from the VirtuOS Regional Competence Center in Osijek and Ph.D. Sandra Mrvica Mađarac, prof. v. š. from the “Lavoslav Ružička” College in Vukovar agreed that the situation is not good, that the current situation is difficult, but not hopeless. According to them, research and statistics need to take this problem seriously and already today create conditions in which young people will be satisfied, which will greatly affect their stay in Croatia. Demography is something that plagues the whole of Europe, it is influenced by various factors, and the task of all levels of government is to take various steps today to improve the demographic situation in Croatia in the future.
