As part of Honey Day, on 17^th October 2025, the University of Applied Sciences “Lavoslav Ružička” in Vukovar hosted a workshop titled “Bee Products in Cosmetics” organized by the Student Entrepreneurship Incubator in cooperation with the Beekeepers’ Association “Vukovar 91.”

The workshop was led by dr. sc. Gordana Hegić, President of the Croatian Apitherapy Society, and consisted of two parts: a morning session intended for students and staff of the University VEVU, and an afternoon session open to all interested participants, particularly beekeepers and producers of bee products.

Participants had the opportunity to learn about the basics of apitherapy, legal regulations for placing products on the market, and to practically create a moisturizing cream using the cold process, as well as an ointment and lip balm based on natural bee ingredients.

This activity represents a blend of science, education, and entrepreneurship, aimed at presenting to students and the local community various possibilities of applying bee products in modern cosmetics, as well as encouraging innovation and the development of value-added products.

Due to their natural composition and proven biological effects, bee products are valuable ingredients in skincare, whether used independently or as part of natural creams. In today’s world, there is an increasing demand for higher proportions of natural ingredients in cosmetic products, which has led to a renewed appreciation of their role in maintaining skin health and beauty.

The workshop is part of a series of activities by the Student Entrepreneurship Incubator aimed at fostering creativity, innovation, and the development of sustainable business ideas among students and the local community.
