“There is a city dear to every heart, a true Croatian giant.”

Vukovar City Day is celebrated on May 3rd, marking the day when Vukovar was granted the status of a Free Royal City (Article 5 of the Statute of the City of Vukovar).

When adopting the City Statute, city officials chose May 3rd as Vukovar City Day because, according to the church calendar, it is the feast day of Saints Philip and James. Vukovar’s main church bears their names and has honored them as the city’s patron saints since 1723, the year the Church of St. Philip and St. James began construction.

We wish all residents a happy Vukovar City Day!
