The Sports Association of the students of the University of Applied Sciences “Lavoslav Ružička” in Vukovar traditionally organized the seventeenth “Student Sports Day” which took place on May 13, 2025, at the outdoor fields and the “Danijel Rehak” Sports Hall in Borovo Naselje, as well as at the tennis courts of the Tennis Club “Vukovar”. Over 200 students participated in six sports: futsal, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, badminton, and bowling. Nine teams competed in the men’s futsal, while five teams participated in the women’s volleyball. A bowling competition was organized for the professors and staff of the University VEVU.

In the futsal semifinals, the teams from the fifth and second years of the Physiotherapy Program faced off, as well as the third and fourth-year teams. The tournament was won by the fifth-year Physiotherapy team. The match for third place was contested between the second and third-year Physiotherapy teams, with the second-year team emerging victorious and securing third place. The MVP award “Josip Anić Anker” for the best player of the tournament was won by student Josip Petak. The winning team from the fifth year of Physiotherapy consisted of: Dominik Jelinić (capt.), Josip Petak, Marko Varga, Luka Saboci, Andrej Ivančan, Vasilije Ilić, Mislav Rodin, Damjan Čulinović, Josip Vrgoč, Rok Jendrašić, Andro Matak, and Alen Ogrešević.

During the break between competitions, a friendly futsal match was played between the women’s futsal team of VEVU and a team of professors and staff, in which the professors won 2:1.

The professors and staff team consisted of: Dražen Pejić, Marijan Marić, Stjepan Jelica, Vladimir Topić, Ivan Dodlek, Miroslav Drobina, and Damjan Čulinović.

The women’s volleyball competition was played in a single group with five teams, and the winners were the third-year Physiotherapy students. The team consisted of: Ana Pehar, Ema Hajdarović, Karla Tilman, Petra Ferić, Petra Sivak, Laura Lončar, Nikolina Jelić, Ana Hanulak, and Leona Ahmeti.

In badminton, the winners were: Tonka Majer in first place, Maja Šimunović in second, and Stela Mikić in third, in the women’s category. In the men’s category, the best player was Alen Komazec, followed by Luka Menđušić in second place and Petar Jina in third.

In men’s table tennis, the winners were: Luka Saboci in first place, David Čičak in second, and Dorian Damjanović in third. In the women’s category, the top three were: Karla Mađarić in first place, Nikolina Jelić in second, and Bruna Gutzmirtl in third.

In tennis, the best player was Dominik Jelinić, with David Czersky in second and Josip Štrok in third.

In bowling, the top spots were claimed by professors Nebojša Nešić and Vesna Šeper, followed by Ivan Dodlek and Tea Dodlek, and Stjepan Jelica and Katarina Kulić.

After the competition, the University VEVU organized a joint evening at the “Adica” House in Vukovar for all students and professors, as well as the award ceremony for the most successful teams and individuals. Medals, trophies, and awards were presented by the Dean of the University VEVU, Assist. Prof. Dr. Željko Sudarić, professor of professional studies, Vice-Dean Assist. Prof. Dr. Slobodan Stojanović, professor of professional studies, Katarina Kovačević, univ. mag. physioth., lecturer, and Dr. Erna Davidović Cvetko, professor of professional studies.
