University of Applied Sciences “Lavoslav Ružička” in Vukovar achieved an outstanding sporting success at the UniSport HR Finals, the Croatian National University Championship, held in Poreč from 28 to 31 May 2026. Competing against more than 1,600 student-athletes from 25 higher education institutions, VEVU’s sports teams recorded their most successful performance to date, winning a total of five medals: one gold, one silver, and three bronze.

The most remarkable individual achievement came from Teuta Bišćan, who won the gold medal in indoor wrestling and the silver medal in beach wrestling, while also contributing to her team’s third-place overall finish.  Luka Micai also secured a bronze medal in wrestling, adding to VEVU’s impressive medal tally.

Another outstanding result was achieved by the VEVU women’s football team, which defeated the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences 2:1 in a closely contested third-place play-off to claim the bronze medal.

The men’s 3×3 basketball team and the women’s chess team narrowly missed the podium, both finishing in an excellent fourth place. VEVU was also represented in several other sports at the national finals, including badminton, beach volleyball, tennis, men’s chess, and table tennis.

Congratulations to all our student-athletes, coaches, and team managers for representing the University of Applied Sciences in Vukovar “Lavoslav Ružička” with dedication, sportsmanship, and excellence. Their achievements are a source of great pride for our entire academic community.
