Physiotherapy has been recognized as a scientific branch within the scientific area of biomedicine and health. The National Council for Science, Higher Education, and Technological Development accepted and proposed to the minister responsible for science and higher education the inclusion of Physiotherapy as a scientific branch in the Ordinance on Scientific and Interdisciplinary Areas, Fields and Branches and Artistic Areas, Fields and Branches.

The Ordinance was published on January 5, 2024, in the Official Gazette.

Physiotherapy is classified in the Area of biomedicine and health under the field 3.02 Clinical Medical Sciences , and it has been assigned the scientific branch 3.02.32 Physiotherapy.
