On January 8, 2025, a preparatory meeting was held between representatives of the University of Applied Sciences “Lavoslav Ružička” in Vukovar and representatives of the Association of County Communities, Associations, and Members of Croatian Military Invalids of the Homeland War of the Republic of Croatia, HVIDR-a of Vukovar-Srijem County, the Croatian Association of Vukovar Veterans of the Homeland War “VUKOVAR ’91,” and UHVDIR Vukovar. The meeting aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration on joint projects and initiatives.
During the meeting, participants exchanged ideas on potential forms of cooperation, ranging from academic programs and workshops to providing support and counseling for Homeland War veterans. Discussions focused on concrete steps needed to initiate projects aimed at improving the quality of life for veterans and their families. Frameworks were defined within which veteran associations, in collaboration with the University, could further engage in organizing public lectures and lifelong learning programs to strengthen the competencies of association members.
The meeting marked an important foundation for future collaboration between the University and the associations. The exchange of knowledge, resources, and experiences from both sides opens the door to innovative initiatives that will positively impact the Polytechnic, association members, and the wider community.
The meeting was attended by association representatives Zvonko Toma, President of the Supervisory Board of the County Community of HVIDR-a Vukovar-Srijem County and member of the Honorary Court of the County Community of HVIDR-a of Croatia, Stjepan Mađarac, President of the County Community of HVIDR-a Vukovar-Srijem County and member of the Presidency of the County Community of HVIDR-a of Croatia, Tomislav Gašpar, Secretary of HUVBDR “VUKOVAR ’91”, Josip Crnjak, President of HUVBDR “VUKOVAR ’91”, and Slavko Jurić, President of UHVIDR Vukovar. Representing the University were the Dean, Assist. Prof. PhD. Željko Sudarić, prof. of profess. stud., and Vice Dean, Assist. Prof. PhD. Sanja Gongeta, prof. of profess. stud.
