The University of Applied Sciences “Lavoslav Ružička” in Vukovar (VEVU) held the project’s kick-off meeting, during which the initial activities for the implementation of the project “STEP UP 2.0 – A New Dimension of Professional Practice” were agreed upon. The project is aimed at significantly enhancing the professional practice of students enrolled in the Physiotherapy and Preventive Physiotherapy study programmes at the Department of Health Studies by strengthening cooperation with employers, developing the Career Centre, and improving the capacities of the University’s academic and professional staff.

The project will be implemented over a 24-month period, until 19 June 2028. A total of 262,607.43 EUR has been secured for its implementation, enabling comprehensive investment in improving the quality of practical training, equipping simulation facilities, and enhancing career support services. The primary and most important target group of the project are the students of the VEVU. At least 250 students will directly benefit from the project activities, gaining key competencies for the labour market through higher-quality professional practice.

The main objective of the project is to increase the employability of VEVU students by providing high-quality professional practice in real working environments. Project activities are focused on systematically strengthening the University’s own capacities for delivering practical training. This includes fostering and enhancing cooperation and building stronger links between students, mentors, employers, and the alumni community. Particular attention will be devoted to improving the quality of mentoring and practical training through the application of modern and innovative teaching methods, as well as the procurement of advanced equipment tailored to the needs of the profession. All of these activities are expected to improve the practical competencies of our students and better prepare them for entering the labour market.
