The University of Applied Sciences “Lavoslav Ružička” in Vukovar and the Career Development Center successfully organized the Career Days and Open Doors VEVU 2025 event from April 28 to April 30, 2025. Over the course of three days, various events were held where high school seniors, students, and the general public were introduced to the activities of the University, the work of the VEVU Alumni Association, and the Career Development Center, as well as the activities of employers and partners aimed at student internships, networking, and experience exchange.

On the first day of the program, Monday, April 28, study programs and other activities conducted by the University VEVU were presented to high school seniors from Vukovar and Osijek in the conference hall. More than 150 high school seniors visited classrooms and specialized labs, the fitness hall, library, University centers, and other spaces within the University building.

The new professional graduate study programs at the Business and Administrative Department were presented to our alumni, current students, VEVU partners, and other interested stakeholders in the University’s Council Hall. Around fifty participants learned about the key features of the new graduate programs, including information on course structure, planned quotas, and the expected enrollment of the first generation of students, depending on the approval of the program implementation.

The first day concluded with a VEVU alumni panel featuring successful alumni: Ivan Cestar, alumni of the Administrative Studies program, Mirela Požarko, alumni of the Commerce Studies program, and Marinko Grgić, alumni of the Physiotherapy Studies program. In conversation with library manager Tatjana Ivić Lovrinović, they shared their experiences during and after their studies, with a special focus on entering the job market and finding employment.

The second day of the program, Tuesday, April 29, was dedicated to the organization of the Employer Fair. Around twenty employers and partners of the University presented their businesses and exchanged information and experiences with interested students. Employers play a significant role in the process of continuously adapting and improving our study programs in line with labor market demands, and they are especially important as mentors to students during internships, helping them develop practical knowledge and skills needed in the workplace.

The third day of the program, Wednesday, April 30, was reserved for workshops organized by the Career Development Center and the University Library, where students learned how to make a successful presentation and what they should do after completing their studies. They also had the opportunity to showcase their competitive spirit at the VEVU Unreal Cup gaming tournament, which saw about thirty students participate. The most successful players were rewarded with prizes.

The final event of the Career Days and Open Doors was the Vinčić Stand-up Show, held in collaboration with the Vukovar City Library. In the conference hall, which was filled to capacity, famous stand-up comedian Goran Vinčić Vinča performed for the students of the University and other interested citizens.

The University VEVU would like to once again thank all individuals, partners, companies, and institutions who participated in the organization and implementation of this year’s events.

Until next year, best regards from VEVU.
