At the “Lavoslava Ru\u017ei\u010dka” College in Vukovar, on July 12, 2022, a conference titled “How to promote economic development with labor policies and continuous investment in education” was held. On it, it was pointed out that Croatia lacks a million employees and that this year, in its first six months, work permits were issued to foreigners, as in the whole of last year. Lecturers Luka \u0106irko and Mislav Balkovi\u0107 who participated in the conference as well as panelists Ivan Vidi\u0161, Gordana Odor, and Ivan Ergovi\u0107 agreed that there are various causes that led to this situation in Croatia, but they agreed that it is important to monitor the needs of the labor market in order to direct education in secondary and higher education institutions towards it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dean of the College, Ph.D. \u017deljko Sudari\u0107, college professor, in his welcoming speech stated that in the last four years, the College has invested more than HRK 100 million in infrastructure and human resources, and that it continuously works and cooperates with employers in order to supply them with young and educated people who will meet the needs of the labor market.<\/p>\n

“We are also working on new directions that are focused on moving to the Workers’ Home. We hope that we will move by the end of the year or at the beginning of next year, and thus we will have all the opportunities to start new courses”, said Dean Sudari\u0107.<\/p>\n

The conference was organized by the Croatian Association of Employers and in cooperation with the College and the Ministry of Labor, Pension System, Family and Social Policy.<\/strong><\/p>\n
